i didn't say it was bad
i go there cos i like it there maybe?
my point is if i wanted to go in there and play some flaming lips, huski, robots in disguise, fatboy slim, bjork or any other number of classics... perhaps i fancy a drum n' bass night? then i'm not saying i couldn't technically do it (cos i dont know wether i would be allowed or not, doubt it)... wot i am saying is that it would not go down well with the people who are generally in there.
the end of the day crowleys is a rock bar, so by definition people who go there arent gonna want a drum n' bass night.
the monkey is the most all round place you will find in swansea and theres no denying it. if luther has taste branching away from metal then the monkey is definately a better place to start. there are even nights in there where u will find rock/metal. the only problem with that place is that a lot of th people who go there are lost up their own asses.
and as for a broad musical taste, i consider myself to have one and yes, in swansea, i consider myself a minority.

Hey dudes , i did not mean to cause any rows or division among the good alternative folk of Swansea . First i would like to thank Palmer for the info on this other place . And also i would like to say that i have to agree with what Jock is getin at . It realy is neon imposible to keep up with every bit of music that enters the shops . I myself used to spend in the region of £100 every month on new toonz ! This was untill i found that i could nick stuff off the net . Now i know some folk say this is wrong and to a cirtain degree i agree . This is my theory though - A DJ should be alowed to get stuff for free cos the DJ promotes the music for the artist so he educates (spelt wrong I know , neva went ta skool !) educates the publick so they then go out and buy the toon . Just how many times do us DJs have people come up to us and get us to write the tune down we are playing so they can go and get it ! Also its a realy cool thing for the DJ to request the public to bring in there own cds too . We are living in a very harsh world and it would be nice to see a little unity within the realms of alternative Swansea . Perhaps its time to turn small groups into armys and battles into revolutions and create a stronghold of support for eachother . Peace , love and Anarchy on the beaches of the great Tescos riots ( or somink like that if ya catch me drift ?) xxx ;D

maybe 1 way would be to ask Amanda about putting those bands on the jukebox-and by the way i have played Buckcherry in the past, the disc got damaged and i haven't replaced it!

- A DJ should be alowed to get stuff for free cos the DJ promotes the music for the artist so he educates 90% of Rock Djs play exactly the same stuff every week, the only time they'll play a new track/artist is if the track concerned is a (massive) hit single that has been on heavy rotation on the radio. In places like Face Off I honestly don't know why they bother paying DJs, they could just get a laptop with 100 tracks on it and press Random. As for Educating the audience, been there tried that - anything that hasn't been played millions of times before will clear a dance floor, even an album track by a big band will do that. Thats why Crowleys is good, you can ask for something/bring it down and it will get played. Plus those in the bar who don't know what it is won't go off in a sulk to a pop night.
